Willie always loved a good story and a hearty laugh.

They moved back to Groton, SD, where he worked on the family farm until 1974, when he enrolled in the Denver Automotive and Diesel School studying diesel mechanics. He spent many hours working with his children and grandchildren sharing his skills and knowledge.

After completing his degree, he returned to SD and worked as construction and feedlot foreman for Delzer Construction in Spearfish. He was completely devoted to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Willie and his siblings attended Jefferson and Reva country schools. Willie married Venoy Idella Smith February 6, 1971.

They raised 4 children on the family ranch where 2 children, Pete and Laura, continue the family operation to this day.

He was the 9th of 10 children and grew up on the family ranch 3 miles east of Reva, SD.

After Willies father died, he and his brother, Bob, purchased the family ranch where Willie lived until his death.

Her and her children moved to the Tryon ranch at Deers Ears. Ida was preceded in death by her parents, Leach and Edna Bryant; her husband, Charlie Tryon; sister, Mary Baker; brothers, Louis Bryant and Dale Bryant; great-granddaughter, Kinley Joe Tharp; niece, Chelsey Bryant; and great-niece, Vicky Evans. Willies favorite pastime was working on the ranch and he especially looked forward to farming in the spring.

In 1990, Willy was paralyzed in a tractor accident as he was getting ready for spring planting.

She still chopped ice for the cows and burned wood. Ida, 75, Newell, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at her ranch.
